Bio

George Frideric Handel (1685–1759) was a German-born composer who became a naturalised British subject in 1727. He is celebrated for his operas, oratorios, and instrumental works that helped define the late Baroque style in England. Handel spent his early career in Italy, absorbing the operatic traditions of the day, before settling in London where he enjoyed royal patronage. His most enduring work, the oratorio Messiah, remains one of the most frequently performed pieces of classical music. Beyond the stage, Handel composed numerous concerti grossi, organ concertos, and keyboard suites that continue to influence musicians and audiences worldwide.
