Kneecap is an Irish hip-hop trio formed in Belfast in 2017. The group raps primarily in the Irish language and blends traditional hip-hop beats with local cultural references, drawing attention for their politically charged lyrics and energetic live shows. The members, known by the stage names Mo Chara, Móglai Bap and DJ Provaí, gained wider recognition after the release of their self-titled debut album in 2018. Their music often addresses issues of identity, language preservation and social justice in Northern Ireland. Kneecap have built a dedicated following through festival appearances and independent releases, establishing themselves as one of the most distinctive acts to emerge from the Irish-language music scene.
