Marianne Faithfull is an English singer and actress who rose to prominence in the mid-1960s with her debut single "As Tears Go By." Born in Hampstead, London, in 1946, she became closely associated with the Rolling Stones and released a string of successful pop and rock recordings before stepping away from music in the early 1970s. After a period of personal struggles and a long hiatus, Faithfull re-emerged in the late 1970s with the critically acclaimed album "Broken English," which showcased a darker, more mature artistic direction. Over subsequent decades she has continued to record and perform, collaborating with artists such as Nick Cave and PJ Harvey while also maintaining an acting career in film and theatre.
