Bio
Baaba Maal is a Senegalese singer-songwriter and guitarist born in Podor in 1953. He is known for blending traditional West African music with contemporary styles, performing primarily in the Pulaar language and drawing on the musical traditions of the Fula people. He studied at the École des Arts in Dakar and later at the Conservatoire des Arts in Paris, where he developed his distinctive voice and guitar technique. Maal has released numerous albums since the 1980s and has collaborated with international artists while maintaining strong roots in Senegalese musical heritage.
