GIMS, born Gandhi Djuna on 6 May 1986 in Kinshasa, is a French-Congolese rapper, singer and songwriter who rose to prominence as a member of the Paris-based collective Sexion d'Assaut. He later launched a solo career under the name Maître Gims, releasing multi-platinum albums such as "Subliminal" (2013) and "Mon cœur avait raison" (2015) that blended French rap, R&B and pop urbaine. Known for his melodic hooks and socially conscious lyrics, GIMS has become one of the most commercially successful French-language artists of his generation.
