Bio

The Pogues are an English band formed in 1982, renowned for blending traditional Irish folk music with punk rock energy. Their sound is characterized by raucous arrangements, accordion, banjo, and tin whistle alongside electric guitars and driving rhythms. The group gained international recognition in the 1980s with albums such as "Rum Sodomy & the Lash" and the hit single "Fairytale of New York," a Christmas duet with Kirsty MacColl. Their music often explores themes of Irish emigration, working-class life, and revelry, cementing their status as pioneers of the Celtic punk genre.
