Johnny Marr is an English guitarist, songwriter, and singer best known as the co-founder of the Smiths. Born in Ardwick, Manchester, on 31 October 1963, he formed the band with Morrissey in 1982 and helped define the sound of 1980s indie rock through his distinctive jangly guitar style. After the Smiths disbanded in 1987, Marr pursued a prolific career as a session and touring musician, collaborating with artists such as Talking Heads, Pet Shop Boys, and The Pretenders. He has also released several solo albums and remains an influential figure in contemporary guitar music.
