Colin Vearncombe (26 May 1962 – 26 January 2016), known professionally as Black, was an English singer-songwriter from Liverpool. He first gained international recognition in the mid-1980s with the single "Wonderful Life," which became a top-ten hit in several European countries. His introspective, melodic style blended indie pop and sophisticated adult contemporary songwriting, and he released a series of well-regarded albums throughout the 1980s and 1990s.
