A Perfect Circle is an American rock supergroup formed in Los Angeles in 1999. The band is known for its atmospheric sound that blends alternative metal and progressive metal, featuring intricate arrangements and emotionally charged vocals. The group was founded by guitarist Billy Howerdel and vocalist Maynard James Keenan, who also fronts Tool. Their debut album, Mer de Noms, was released in 2000 and achieved platinum status. Subsequent releases include Thirteenth Step (2003) and the covers collection eMOTIVE (2004). After a long hiatus, A Perfect Circle returned with the album Eat the Elephant in 2018. The band has maintained a rotating lineup of accomplished musicians while remaining centered around the creative partnership of Howerdel and Keenan.
