The Andrews Sisters were an American close harmony singing group of the swing and boogie-woogie eras. The group consisted of three sisters: contralto LaVerne Sophia, soprano Maxene Anglyn, and mezzo-soprano Patricia Marie 'Patty' Andrews. Throughout their long career, the sisters sold well over 75 million records, making them the best-selling female vocal group in the history of pop music. The sisters began performing professionally in the early 1930s and achieved their breakthrough with the 1937 hit 'Bei Mir Bist Du Schön.' They became known for their tight harmonies and energetic performances, appearing in numerous films and radio programs during the 1940s. Their repertoire included swing, boogie-woogie, and traditional pop songs, with notable hits like 'Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy' and 'Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree.' The group remained active until LaVerne's death in 1967, after which Maxene and Patty continued performing as a duo until their retirement in the 1980s.
