Rita Marley (born Alfarita Constantia Anderson, 25 July 1946) is a Jamaican singer and songwriter best known as the widow of Bob Marley and a founding member of the vocal trio the I Threes. Born in Santiago de Cuba and raised in Jamaica, she began her career in the 1960s as a member of the Soulettes before forming the I Threes with Marcia Griffiths and Judy Mowatt, providing backing vocals on many of Bob Marley & The Wailers’ landmark recordings. Beyond her work with the I Threes, Rita has released several solo albums, including “Who Feels It Knows It” (1980) and “We Must Carry On” (1983), and has remained active as a performer and cultural ambassador. She is also the founder of the Rita Marley Foundation, which supports education, health, and cultural initiatives in Jamaica and Africa.
