The Taxi Gang is a Jamaican reggae backing band formed in the late 1970s by Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare. The group became a cornerstone of reggae and dub music, providing the rhythm section for countless recordings at Dynamic Sounds and Tuff Gong studios. Their tight, groove-oriented playing helped define the sound of roots reggae and early dancehall, and they have backed artists such as Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, and Jimmy Cliff.
