Bio
Joe Strummer (born John Graham Mellor, 21 August 1952 – 22 December 2002) was an English musician, singer, songwriter and actor best known as the co-founder, lyricist, rhythm guitarist and lead vocalist of the punk rock band the Clash. Strummer's career spanned three decades, during which he also fronted the post-punk band the Mescaleros and pursued solo projects. His politically charged lyrics and energetic stage presence made him a defining figure of the punk movement. Strummer died of a heart attack at his home in Somerset, England, at the age of 50.
