Bio
The Grateful Dead formed in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1965 and became central to the psychedelic counterculture of the late 1960s. Their music fused rock, folk, blues, and jazz into extended improvisational pieces that defined the emerging jam-band style. Over three decades the group cultivated a devoted following known as Deadheads, who followed the band on tour and helped create a unique live-music community. Their catalog includes landmark albums such as Live/Dead, Workingman’s Dead, and American Beauty, and their influence on improvisation and live performance remains widely acknowledged.
