Bio
Monie Love is an English rapper, actress and radio personality born in Battersea, London in 1970. She first gained prominence in the late 1980s and early 1990s as part of the Native Tongues collective, appearing on tracks by De La Soul and Queen Latifah before releasing her own material. Her 1990 debut album Down to Earth spawned the hit singles "Monie in the Middle" and "It’s a Shame (My Sister)," the latter featuring True Image. Love’s style blended hip-house and new jack swing, and she remains noted for her rapid-fire delivery and socially conscious lyrics.
