Bob Dylan is an American singer-songwriter whose work has profoundly shaped modern music. Emerging in the early 1960s, he became a leading voice in the folk revival with songs such as "Blowin' in the Wind" and "The Times They Are A-Changin'." Over the following decades he repeatedly reinvented his sound, moving from acoustic folk to electric rock, country, gospel, and beyond. His songwriting is noted for its literary depth, social commentary, and inventive use of language. Dylan received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2016 for "creating new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition." He continues to record and tour, maintaining an active presence more than six decades after his debut.
