Bio
Antonio Pappano is a British-Italian conductor and pianist born in London in 1959. He began his career as a repetiteur and assistant conductor before becoming music director of the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels and later the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, where he served from 2002 to 2024. He has been music director of the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome since 2005 and was appointed chief conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra in 2024. Pappano is known for his work across opera and symphonic repertoire, with acclaimed recordings on Warner Classics and EMI. He frequently collaborates with leading orchestras and opera houses worldwide and has received numerous awards including a knighthood in 2012.
