Bio
Philip Oakey is an English singer, songwriter and record producer best known as the lead vocalist and co-founder of the synth-pop band The Human League. Born in Hinckley, Leicestershire, in 1955, he rose to international fame in the early 1980s with hits such as “Don’t You Want Me” and “(Keep Feeling) Fascination,” helping to define the sound of the new-wave era. Oakey’s distinctive baritone voice and image—marked by his asymmetric hairstyle and androgynous fashion—became iconic of the period. Beyond The Human League, he has collaborated with artists including Giorgio Moroder and has continued to record and perform both with the band and as a solo artist.
