Muddy Waters

Muddy Waters (1913–1983) was an American blues musician whose electric Chicago sound became the template for modern blues and rock. Born McKinley Morganfield in rural Mississippi, he moved to Chicago in the 1940s and recorded for Chess Records, releasing classics such as “Hoochie Coochie Man,” “Mannish Boy,” and “Got My Mojo Working.” His raw slide-guitar style and commanding voice influenced generations of artists from the Rolling Stones to Led Zeppelin, earning him the title “Father of Chicago Blues.”
