Bio
Antonio Rosetti was a German-Czech composer and double-bass player active in the late 18th century. Born Franz Anton Rösler in Litoměřice, Bohemia (now Czech Republic), he spent most of his career at the court of Oettingen-Wallerstein in Germany. He composed over 400 works, including symphonies, concertos, and sacred music, and was admired by contemporaries such as Haydn and Mozart. His style bridges late Baroque and early Classical idioms, with clear melodic writing and balanced orchestration. Rosetti’s music fell into obscurity after his death but has been revived through modern recordings and scholarly editions.
