Dusty Springfield (born Mary Isobel Catherine Bernadette O'Brien, 16 April 1939 – 2 March 1999) was an English singer and record producer whose distinctive voice and dramatic delivery made her one of the most influential female vocalists of the 1960s. She rose to fame in the early 1960s with hits such as "I Only Want to Be with You" and "Wishin' and Hopin'," and her 1968 album Dusty in Memphis is widely regarded as a landmark of blue-eyed soul. Springfield's career spanned more than three decades, during which she recorded in multiple genres including pop, soul, and country. She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999, shortly before her death from breast cancer.
