Bio
Big Zulu (born Siyabonga Nene, 7 April 1986) is a South African rapper, singer and songwriter from Bergville, KwaZulu-Natal. He is known for blending maskandi, gqom, amapiano and afro-soul into a distinctive sound that has made him one of the leading voices in contemporary Zulu-language hip-hop. Rising to prominence with the 2016 single “Donsa Lami,” Big Zulu has released several successful albums and singles, often collaborating with other South African artists across the maskandi and hip-hop scenes. His lyrics frequently explore themes of township life, personal struggle and cultural pride, delivered in a mix of Zulu and English.
