Frank Sinatra was an American singer and actor born in Hoboken, New Jersey, in 1915. He rose to fame in the swing era with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra before establishing a solo career that spanned six decades. Known as “Ol’ Blue Eyes,” he became one of the best-selling music artists of all time, celebrated for his phrasing, vocal control, and interpretations of the Great American Songbook. Sinatra recorded dozens of classic albums including In the Wee Small Hours and Come Fly with Me, and starred in films such as From Here to Eternity, for which he won an Academy Award. His signature style blended jazz, big band, and adult standards, influencing generations of vocalists. He remained active until his death in 1998.
