Bio
Ron Carter (born May 4, 1937) is an American jazz double bassist widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in modern jazz. Over a career spanning more than six decades, he has appeared on more than 2,200 recordings and performed with leading artists including Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, and Wayne Shorter. Carter is celebrated for his impeccable technique, harmonic sophistication, and ability to anchor both small groups and large ensembles. His contributions to the classic Miles Davis Quintet of the 1960s helped define the sound of post-bop jazz, while his later work as a bandleader and educator has influenced generations of bassists worldwide.
