The Gap Band was an American R&B and funk band formed in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in the early 1970s. The group, fronted by brothers Charlie, Ronnie, and Robert Wilson, rose to prominence in the late 1970s and early 1980s with hits such as "Outstanding," "You Dropped a Bomb on Me," and "Oops Up Side Your Head." Their music blended funk grooves with quiet-storm ballads, helping define the sound of urban contemporary radio during that era.
