Dexys Midnight Runners are an English pop band formed in Birmingham in 1978. Originally led by singer-songwriter Kevin Rowland, the group is best known for their 1982 UK number-one single "Come On Eileen" and their soul-influenced sound that blended elements of punk, folk, and R&B. Over the years the band has undergone several line-up changes and stylistic shifts, releasing albums such as Searching for the Young Soul Rebels (1980) and Too-Rye-Ay (1982). Their energetic brass arrangements and Rowland's distinctive vocals helped define an era of British pop music that continues to resonate with audiences.
