Charlie Aponte is a Puerto Rican salsa singer born on February 2, 1951, in Caguas. He is best known as the longtime lead vocalist of El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico, one of the most influential salsa orchestras in Latin music history. Aponte joined the group in 1973 and remained with them for over four decades, contributing to numerous hit albums and songs that helped define the salsa genre. His distinctive voice and stage presence made him a central figure in the band's success and a respected artist within the broader Latin music community.
