Karen O (born Karen Lee Orzolek, November 22, 1978) is an American singer, songwriter, and musician best known as the frontwoman of the indie rock band Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Born in Busan, South Korea, and raised in the United States, she is recognized for her distinctive, raw vocal style and energetic stage presence. Beyond her work with Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Karen O has released solo material, including the 2014 album Crush Songs and the 2019 album Lux Prima, a collaboration with producer Danger Mouse. She has also composed scores for film and theater, notably earning an Academy Award nomination for her work on the 2020 film The Night Is Short, Walk on Girl.
