Bio
Stanley Black was an English composer, conductor and bandleader active from the 1940s through the 1980s. He led his own orchestra on BBC radio and television, scoring many light-music programs and variety shows. Black composed and conducted for over 100 films, including early Hammer horror titles and Ealing comedies, and released dozens of orchestral LPs on Decca and London. His style blended light orchestral, easy-listening, and Latin-inflected dance music. He served as musical director for the Royal Variety Performance and received the OBE in 1986.
