Bio
Serj Tankian is a Lebanese-American musician, singer, songwriter, and political activist best known as the lead vocalist of the alternative metal band System of a Down. Born in Beirut in 1967, he moved with his family to Los Angeles at a young age, where he later co-founded the band that achieved global success with albums such as Toxicity and Mezmerize/Hypnotize. Beyond System of a Down, Tankian has released several solo albums spanning rock, orchestral, and experimental styles, and he remains active as a composer and spoken-word artist. He is also recognized for his outspoken advocacy on human-rights issues, particularly those affecting Armenia and the broader Middle East.
