Godflesh

Bio

Godflesh is an English industrial metal band formed in Birmingham in 1988 by guitarist/vocalist Justin Broadrick and bassist G. C. Green. The group is widely credited with pioneering the fusion of heavy metal riffs and downtuned guitars with the mechanical rhythms and abrasive textures of industrial music. After releasing their influential debut album Streetcleaner in 1989, Godflesh continued to shape the industrial-metal landscape through albums such as Pure (1992) and the critically acclaimed Selfless (1994). Their sound—marked by slow, crushing grooves, drum-machine beats, and bleak, minimal vocals—has influenced countless acts in both metal and electronic music. The band disbanded in 2002 but reunited in 2010, returning with new material that reaffirmed their status as one of the most uncompromising forces in underground music.
