Richard Marx is an American singer-songwriter and record producer born in Chicago in 1963. He rose to fame in the late 1980s with a string of soft-rock ballads and mid-tempo hits, most notably the chart-topping singles “Right Here Waiting” and “Hold On to the Nights.” Beyond performing, Marx has built a substantial career as a songwriter and producer for other artists, contributing to recordings by acts ranging from NSYNC to Keith Urban. His work has earned multiple Grammy nominations and continues to be recognized for its melodic craftsmanship and radio-friendly polish.
