Bio
Carole King is an American singer-songwriter and pianist who rose to prominence in the 1960s as one of the most successful songwriters of the Brill Building era. Born in Manhattan in 1942, she wrote or co-wrote numerous chart-topping hits for other artists before launching her own recording career. Her 1971 album Tapestry became one of the best-selling albums of all time and established her as a leading voice in the singer-songwriter movement. King's work spans folk rock, pop, and soul, and she has continued to record and perform throughout her career. She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990 and received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2013.
