Bio
Lou Rawls (1933–2006) was an American singer, songwriter, and actor whose warm baritone voice defined classic and Philly soul. Born in Chicago, he began singing in gospel choirs before moving into jazz and R&B, scoring hits such as “You’ll Never Find Another Love Like Mine” and “Lady Love.” Rawls recorded more than 75 albums, earned three Grammy Awards, and was celebrated for his smooth phrasing and socially conscious lyrics. He also became a prominent philanthropist, hosting the annual “Lou Rawls Parade of Stars” telethon that raised millions for the United Negro College Fund.
