Bio

Future Islands is an American synth-pop band formed in Greenville, North Carolina in 2006. The group consists of vocalist Samuel T. Herring, Gerrit Welmers on keyboards, William Cashion on bass, and drummer Mike Lowry. They are known for their distinctive blend of electronic and new wave influences, characterized by Herring's expressive baritone vocals and energetic live performances. The band gained wider recognition with their 2014 album "Singles," which featured the hit single "Seasons (Waiting on You)." Their music combines 1980s synth aesthetics with post-punk sensibilities, and they have maintained a consistent presence in the indie music scene through subsequent releases and extensive touring.
