Bio
Timaya (born Inetimi Timaya Odon, 15 August 1977) is a Nigerian singer and songwriter from Odi, Bayelsa State. He rose to prominence in the mid-2000s with his dancehall-infused single “Dem Mama,” which established him as one of the leading voices in the emerging Afrobeats scene. Over the following decade he released a string of commercially successful albums—True Story, Gift and Grace, De Re Burn, Upgrade, Epiphany, and Chulo Vibes—blending Afrobeats, dancehall, soca and highlife. Timaya is known for socially conscious lyrics, energetic live shows, and his independent label, Dem Mama Records.
