Bio
Jimmy Somerville is a Scottish singer-songwriter born in Glasgow in 1961. He first rose to prominence in the early 1980s as the lead vocalist of the synthpop acts Bronski Beat and The Communards, scoring major UK hits such as "Smalltown Boy" and a cover of "Don't Leave Me This Way." Known for his distinctive countertenor voice, Somerville has maintained a solo career since the late 1980s, releasing albums that blend hi-NRG, synthpop, and dance music while often addressing themes of identity and social justice.
