Dashboard Confessional is an American rock band formed in Boca Raton, Florida, in 1999 by singer-songwriter Chris Carrabba. Initially a solo acoustic project, the band became known for its emotionally charged lyrics and confessional style that helped define the early-2000s emo movement. Over time it expanded into a full band, blending emo with pop-punk influences while maintaining Carrabba’s intimate, heartfelt songwriting. The group has remained active for over two decades, releasing multiple albums and touring extensively.
