AC/DC is an Australian hard rock band formed in Sydney in 1973 by brothers Angus and Malcolm Young. The group rose to global fame in the late 1970s and early 1980s with high-energy performances and riff-driven songs. Their 1980 album Back in Black remains one of the best-selling records ever. After Malcolm Young’s retirement and death, Angus Young has continued leading the band with new members. Their sound blends blues-based hard rock, classic rock, and rock and roll. Key releases include Highway to Hell, Back in Black, and The Razors Edge. Longtime vocalist Brian Johnson and drummer Phil Rudd have been central to their classic lineup.
