Bio
Alison Moyet is an English singer-songwriter who first rose to prominence in the early 1980s as one half of the synth-pop duo Yazoo (known as Yaz in North America). After the duo disbanded, she launched a successful solo career with her 1984 debut album Alf, which topped the UK charts and spawned hits such as "Love Resurrection" and "All Cried Out." Throughout the 1980s and 1990s she continued to release platinum-selling albums and singles that blended soulful vocals with electronic and pop arrangements. In the 2000s she returned to her electronic roots with critically acclaimed albums such as The Turn and The Minutes, while also exploring jazz and orchestral projects. Moyet remains an influential figure in British music, known for her distinctive contralto voice and enduring catalog of work.
