Bio
Katrina and the Waves were a British-American rock band formed in Cambridge, England in 1981. The group blended pop-rock with new-wave influences and gained international recognition in the mid-1980s with their upbeat single "Walking on Sunshine," which became a radio staple and chart hit across multiple countries. Led by American-born singer Katrina Leskanich and guitarist Kimberley Rew, the band released several albums throughout the 1980s and 1990s. They represented the United Kingdom at the 1997 Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Love Shine a Light," winning the competition and achieving their second major international success. The group disbanded in 1999 after Leskanich departed to pursue a solo career. Their catalog continues to be remembered for its catchy melodies and enduring radio presence.
