Bio
Mazzy Star is an American alternative rock band formed in Santa Monica, California, in 1989 by guitarist David Roback and vocalist Hope Sandoval. Emerging from the remnants of the band Opal, they became known for their dreamy, atmospheric sound blending dream pop, shoegaze, and slowcore. Their 1993 album So Tonight That I Might See brought mainstream attention with the single "Fade Into You," which became a defining track of 1990s alternative music. The band released three studio albums before going on hiatus in the late 1990s, later reuniting for additional releases including Seasons of Your Day in 2013. Their music is characterized by Sandoval's ethereal vocals and Roback's reverb-heavy guitar textures, influencing subsequent generations of indie and dream pop artists.
