Bio
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers formed in Gainesville, Florida in 1976. The band, fronted by singer-songwriter Tom Petty, blended classic-rock influences with a rootsy, melodic style that earned them a lasting place in American rock music. Over four decades the Heartbreakers released numerous multi-platinum albums and hits such as "Refugee," "American Girl," and "Free Fallin'." Their straightforward songwriting and tight live performances made them staples of FM radio and arena tours. Following Tom Petty’s death in 2017, the group disbanded, leaving a catalog that continues to influence new generations of rock musicians.
