Bio
Andreas Vollenweider is a Swiss harpist and composer born in Zurich in 1953. He is best known for his instrumental music that blends harp with synthesizers and world-music percussion, helping to define the new-age genre in the 1980s. His breakthrough album "White Winds" (1984) reached the top of Billboard’s New Age chart, and subsequent releases such as "Down to the Moon" (1986) and "Dancing with the Lion" (1989) solidified his international reputation. Vollenweider has continued to record and tour, exploring Celtic, African, and Latin influences while remaining centered on the acoustic harp.
