Montell Jordan is an American singer, songwriter, and record producer born in Los Angeles in 1968. He rose to prominence in the mid-1990s with his debut single "This Is How We Do It," which topped the Billboard Hot 100 and became a defining new jack swing anthem. Jordan released several albums throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, blending R&B, hip-hop, and pop elements, and continued to write and produce for other artists while maintaining his own recording career.
