Bio

Bunny Lee (1941–2020) was a Jamaican record producer and one of the central figures in the development of reggae and dub. Working from Kingston, he produced countless hits during the rocksteady and early reggae eras, helping to shape the sound of artists such as Delroy Wilson, John Holt, and Slim Smith. In the 1970s Lee became renowned for his “flying cymbal” drumming technique and for his close collaboration with engineer King Tubby, whose innovative dub mixes defined an entire sub-genre. His productions, often released on labels like Jackpot and Attack, remain foundational touchstones in Jamaican music history.
