Todd Rundgren is an American musician, songwriter, and producer born in 1948 in Upper Darby Township, Pennsylvania. He first gained recognition as the frontman of the band Nazz before launching a solo career that showcased his skills as a multi-instrumentalist and innovative studio artist. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Rundgren produced albums for artists such as Patti Smith, Meat Loaf, and XTC while releasing his own eclectic works that blended rock, pop, and experimental elements. His 1973 double album "A Wizard, a True Star" and the hits "Hello It's Me" and "Bang the Drum All Day" remain among his best-known recordings. Rundgren has continued to record and tour into the 21st century, maintaining a reputation for technical innovation and genre-spanning creativity across more than five decades of work.
