Bio
The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra is a major American orchestra based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1895, it has performed at Heinz Hall since 1971 under music directors including Fritz Reiner, William Steinberg, Lorin Maazel, Mariss Jansons, Manfred Honeck, and current music director Manfred Honeck. The ensemble is known for its rich tonal quality and has recorded extensively for labels such as Sony Classical and Reference Recordings. It regularly collaborates with leading soloists and presents an annual subscription series, community programs, and tours.
