Bio
Rubén Blades is a Panamanian singer, songwriter, actor, and political activist known for his influential work in salsa and Latin jazz. Born in Panama City in 1948, he rose to prominence in the 1970s with socially conscious lyrics and collaborations with artists like Willie Colón. Blades has released numerous acclaimed albums blending salsa, son cubano, and other Latin rhythms, earning multiple Grammy Awards. Beyond music, he has pursued acting roles in film and television and served as Panama’s Minister of Tourism from 2004 to 2009.
