Sizzla Kalonji, born Miguel Orlando Collins on 17 April 1976 in Kingston, Jamaica, is a leading reggae and dancehall artist from the August Town district. He rose to prominence in the mid-1990s with hits such as "Be I Strong" and "Rise to the Occasion," becoming one of the most prolific voices in conscious reggae. His music blends roots reggae, dancehall, and Rastafarian themes, often addressing social justice, spirituality, and African heritage. Sizzla has released dozens of albums on labels including Greensleeves, VP Records, and his own Kalonji imprint, collaborating with producers like Bobby Digital and artists such as Capleton and Anthony B. He remains an influential figure in Jamaican music with a global following.
